The elements are ganging up on me today, I’ve decided.
First example was my struggle with air to get to uni and back. I was walking both with and against ridiculously strong winds. They were so strong that at times they prevented me from walking. Of course I’d done the stupid thing and decided to wear my heels but even without them I reckon it would’ve been a battle, I guess the worst thing about the wind though, is that it that it comes through a closed vent on my window and causes it to hum. I mean I guess it’s useful if you want to know how windy it is cos it gets louder the windier it is but when you’re trying to get to sleep it’s just annoying.
Second example, about an hour and a half ago I just experienced my first earthquake. Well, the first one that I’ve felt anyway. It was most peculiar to be sat and then all of a sudden have the whole room shake. I mean I thought at first something had crashed somewhere close but when Alena said the same thing had happened to her it was kinda obvious what had happened, even if I was a little cynical at first due to the lack of prominent earthquakes the UK gets. Everything seems to be ok though, which I guess is the main thing.
Apparently it was either 4.7 or 5.1 on the Richter scale, news sites can’t make their minds up and it’s epicentre was 20 miles south of Hull or thereabouts, unless of course you’re American, in which case it was 250km north of London as that’s clearly the only place in England you guys know, if your news sites are anything to go by. Reuters India amused me by having a quote from a police spokesman in London about the incident. It’s like, “You what? London was on the very edge of the area affected, of course there are going to be ‘no reports of injuries’”.
To get back to my point, all I need now is an incident with a lighter and maybe a flash flood tomorrow whilst I’m walking to Ginger’s gig tomorrow night.
