Witchy likes it when I bitch about things on here but she’s out of luck today because I have nothing to bitch about. Instead I offer you a new band and musings on my local festival.

Right, so remember on Wednesday when I went to see Ginger and he had the support act Eureka Machines doing an acoustic set? Remember how I said I was dubious of what they’d sound like if a bass and drums were added to the fold? It seems my fears were unfounded as they are actually rather awesome. So much so that I’m planning on heading to another of their gigs just around the corner from me. I love finding new music that I love because it very rarely happens nowadays due to me tuning out of radio stations due to the dross they play but that’s another topic for another day. So yeah, if you like your rock straight, tuneful and with the occasional smattering of piano then you can do no wrong in checking them out.

Now, they bring me on to our local music festival, Middlesbrough Music Live, for reasons that I’ll explain later. MML is a free day-long music festival put on by local promoters Ten Feet Tall and our council. It’s seen as a platform for up and coming bands having had bands such as The Thrills, Editors, We Are Scientists, Razorlight, Kasabian, Ordinary Boys, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Darkness and Keane perform in the past few years. The date for this year’s festival has been set as June 1st and the organisers are asking the public who they want to see and I’ve seen all sorts of suggestions but the ones that have stuck out for me are The Conchords and The Hellacopters, probably cos they’re the only ones I’d be willing to see but people seem to be missing a trick having made no mention of Ginger in any shape or form whatsoever; maybe they just don’t want a Geordie at our festival. Anyway, this all stemmed from Eureka Machines for the simple reason that MML is in their top friends on MySpace, which seems a bit odd to me, so it’s obviously got me wondering if they’ve already been booked. It might just be my wishful thinking though.
