I mentioned yesterday about this group project I’m doing for uni. Well the latest on that is that it’s finished and it’s fantastic. Obviously this is good cos it’s gonna get us a decent mark but also, it’s led me to discover just how much I love Flash and Actionscript 2. It’s gonna sound so ridiculously nerdy but I honestly enjoyed coding both the game and the splash page. The idea of the game is that it’s like Whac-a-Mole in that you have to hit boxes of cereal but the twist is that you have to avoid hitting Alice as that’ll score you negative points. The splash page involves you rolling your mouse over hidden hotspots in a certain order to reveal the characters used in our campaign before you get taken to the main mini-site, which I also coded but then I know HTML and CSS fairly well anyway so that’s all trivial. I have to say that the splash page reminds me very much of Tim’s in that things happen when you rollover places, but I only realised this after I made it, honest.
So what have I done to celebrate the end of this term’s work? Well, I’ve gone and ordered myself a DVD of course. For just over £30 the box set of all four seasons of Jonathan Creek is going to be sent to me and I can’t wait. I bloody love that show. I have fond memories of being round a friend’s house when I was young and hiding behind the sofa whilst watching a particularly gruesome episode. I don’t know if it was because it was particularly gruesome but it’s one of the episodes where I can remember what the trick to crime was but it’s one of those shows where even knowing that isn’t gonna hamper your enjoyment of it.
And finally, to top things off, have some icons in pretty colours. They’re of Tim Minchin, Labyrinth and Dexter. Yay.
