My new camera arrived today but I’m yet to decide how I feel about it. It takes some lovely photos and has an awesome zoom but the buttons and menus are annoying me. I know I didn’t expect them to be in the same place as my old one despite them being the same make but for some of the more important functions that I use for my concert photography it’s taking me at least one extra button to press. I spose I’ll just have to get used to it. I mean I did have the last one for close enough three and a half years so of course the buttons and menus are gonna be firmly drilled into my subconscious so I could pull up the functions without thinking.
Still, have a photo I took today to look at:
All this photography lark made me go back and look at all the gig photos I’ve taken in the past. Well, up to a certain point when I panicked and thought I’d lost a whole load of photos between March ‘05 and now. Luckily there are some on Mum’s computer from ‘06 and I found a DVD with ones up til the end of ‘05 but there are still a couple of Hitchers shows I’m missing the photos from. I just hope I manage to find them. Anyway, this aside, I’ve put a few of them up on my DeviantArt from when I used my Olympus C350. I expect there’ll be another splurge of ones to follow from the end of ‘04 til the end of ‘06. My DeviantArt watchers, you have been warned!
Also, all this reminiscing made me wistful. Back in the day I loved this ska-punk band called [spunge], who are actually still going. But yeah, back in the day I went to as many of their gigs as I could and took loads of photos. I actually met my first proper boyfriend because of them but I’d rather forget him if you don’t mind. So I was looking at the photos I’d taken of them and they just reminded me of all the fun times I’d had at their shows and then I realised that I so totally missed them. They’ve got a short tour in May which starts the day I’m heading to Ireland and ending the day I get back so I’m not gonna be able to catch them on that; I recommend you do if you can though. In light of this I fired off an e-mail to Al, their singer, and basically told him all this guff that I’ve just written here because I used to be quite good friends with them in a sense; I was definitely one of their biggest fans back in the day and they all knew me so it’s not like he won’t know who I am. I just hope I get to see them before the year’s out because it will be a laugh; it always is.
