How awesome was Doctor Who?

For starters we were on an alien planet instead of being in sodding London and then it gets even better when you watched the confidential and found out it was FILMED IN A QUARRY!! For some reason I’m slightly excited about that, probably because that’s also how they did intergalactic worlds back in the day. Nice to see that they’re sticking to their roots in some way.

I also got excited about the appearance of PERCY!! That’s Tim McInnery to people too uneducated to have never seen Blackadder. I totally loved the way he turned into an Ood at the end. It makes you wonder if that’s how they reproduce, by taking over other people’s bodies. If so, can we expect to see them popping up later posing a real threat to humans?

Something I’m umm-ing and ahh-ing over though is the preview of next week’s show. On the plus side, the return of the Sontarans (I’ll admit, I’ve only seen one story with them in but I did enjoy it) but you’ve got to wonder what they’re going to do with them. I don’t trust Russell T. Davies to have left them as they were bar a facelift. Guess I’ll be waiting a week to find out.

Oh, and how haunting was the Ood song? Props to the music department there I think.

Right, Doctor Who squeal over with,  I have done other things today. I mean, I made a start on my Flash interactive e-card. It’s essentially a card for St George’s Day (who the hell sends a card for St George’s Day?!) in which you take control of St George and slay the dragon, hurrah. You have to be careful not to get hit by the dragon’s fiery breath though. I’m hoping it’ll be good and I’m hoping I’ll have it sorted for Thursday as I have a crit session. So far I’ve got the controls done and the landscape and the characters. I need to do a couple of animations, sort out the dragon’s fire and do a bit more coding to work out if you’ve been hit by the fire and if you’ve successfully slain the dragon. Oh, and then there’s the final bit where the recipient is wished a happy St George’s Day but that’s not too difficult.

The other fun thing I did today was making myself a set of fake dreadlocks from wool cos, well, you’ll know if you read a few days ago about my PMS. Plus, there’s also the fact I look hot with dreads. They’re perfect because they don’t need maintenance like my real ones did, they look good and they have the added bonus of being purple. I totally dig them. I might wear them to see Ed Byrne, though being in the front row that’s potentially dangerous, but I guess he’s the Byrne who’s less likely to talk to the audience if he does at all. Mind you, I don’t know who his support is, or if he even has one. If they’re trying to recreate his Standing Up, Falling Down tour, because that show’s the one he’s performing, then by all rights it should be Matt Kirshen, which is fine by me cos I love him, but I think he’ll be in America cos he got super famous over there off the back of that show, Last Comic Standing, where he got booted off cos America prefers its own crass comedy to our interesting stuff. He’ll be at Edinburgh though so it’s not the end of the world.
