Urgh, so much has happened today that I’m not even sure how to write this so that it makes sense.
Ok, let’s start with the most pressing matter and that is my left foot because it hurts like a bitch. I was worried that it was serious but it seems to just be a bruise on the metatarsal of my big toe. It’s not so bad when I’m not wearing shoes but otherwise… I think I need some sort of bitchin’ cane like House, though then I might start misdiagnosing people, popping some Vicodin before finally finding their correct diagnosis. Although, I guess I could cope with that provided I had the bitchin’ cane.
I’m not entirely sure if it was caused by the amount of walking I’ve done today. I headed into town early on to do a bit of shopping as I needed to get a microphone for my interactive card. It was the main reason for going down there and it ended up being the bane of my trip. I went to the logical place in town, PC World, but I don’t know why I bothered - I know PC World are crap from previous experiences and this one proved to be just the same. I went in, looked in the logical place for the microphones, next to all the headphones and speakers but didn’t see anything so then I scoured the rest of the floor looking for them. After still finding nothing I spotted a sign for them and assumed I’d just missed that aisle out, which is why I hadn’t seen them but it turned out that it was the first sodding aisle I checked but upon closer inspection it turned out that there were some microphones there - a grand total of two and neither of them particularly cheap.
PC World isn’t the only place in town that sells microphones so I headed to Maplin, which is slightly out of the way and definitely somewhere you wouldn’t be able to go accidentally. in other words, you’re going to know what you want when you visit. With this in mind why do I feel like I’m being patronised by the store clerks every time I go in on my own? It’s always, “Do you need any help?” or, “Are you alright?” Ok, maybe it could be perceived as good customer service but it’s said in such a condescending way that I fail to see it as this. Plus, when I’ve been in with my mum and Alick I don’t get treated like that. Is it so unbelievable that a young woman can go into an electronics store and know exactly what it is she wants?!
Anyway, I bought a microphone there and headed to uni, started work on our group presentation and uploaded my ColdFusion work. There were other people from my course in the lab and I was amazed that some of them hadn’t even started theirs. Mind you, they were were amazed that I’d finished mine. That done I came home and finished off my interactive e-card and the accompanying report so bar the presentation and group report I’m pretty much done. Hooray.
The fun doesn’t end there though, oh no. I went out with my housemates tonight to TGI Friday’s followed by a few games of bowling to celebrate the end of the year for me and Tiffany. TGI Friday’s annoyed me. Not the place or the atmosphere but the person on the table in front. The phrase ‘trash whore’ springs to mind. Starting at the top the had bleached blonde hair with extensions that were clearly darker than that shade of blonde; stupidly long eyelashes; a white see-through blouse (kudos on her for not wearing a black bra though…) and jeans that clearly needed a belt. I do not want to see someone’s backside when they sit in front of me. It’s very off-putting and when it’s combined with you wearing a thing it looks incredibly trashy. Grow up and get some sodding dignity.
Bowling started off pretty sucky cos I was in a foul mood after walking there with my aching feet. I did appallingly in the first game and came last a second time in the next game too. By that time though I’d started to get into the swing of things and so on the third game I managed to come third (or second last). Something was wrong with our lane though. At first a few pins would be already knocked over before anyone had bowled, which didn’t bother us at first but by the third game some pins didn’t even get placed. Let me tell you, when there are no pins placed at all, it’s very easy to get a strike, as I found out. Still, it was a good giggle.
My foot still hurts though.
