So the paper blogs thing hasn’t quite worked out so I guess this is kinda like an intermediate one before I get back into the swing of things.

On the Friday I popped to the chemist’s to pick up my prescription so that I had drugs for Ireland, except this was a chemist’s I’d never been to before and I’ll be honest, it was a bit weird in there. First off all the people behind the counter were beautiful girls, as if it was the gateway to some porn film or something. Secondly they took my medical exemption certificate off me with my prescription and promptly forgot to give it back to me afterwards. Still, I was slightly amused during my wait as one of the other people there waiting had decided to suck her thumb. I mean, come on; I stopped sucking my thumb before I reached double digits and even before then I knew it was a bit of a social faux pas. Someone clearly hasn’t informed her of this though.

Next up came our group presentations, which didn’t go too badly I thought but one group’s stuck out for me fore all the wrong reasons. They’d done an advertising campaign for ‘Curiously Cinnamon’ like we had but they’d gone with the tagline of their whole campaign as, “You are uncurious”. AAAARGH!! How did they manage to get into university? Please do tell as I’d love to know. It clearly should be, “You are incurious.” I’m sure it doesn’t take an idiot to work that out.

So from there I moved as quickly as possible to the train station to catch the 3:05pm train to Newcastle, which was full of some rowdy, drunken party that the conductor played along nicely with, with the announcements. From there came the Metro, where I ended up catching the same one as Alick, which was handy seeing as he had the flight details and stuff, and then came the waiting. And then came the more waiting as out flight was delayed  by about half an hour. Still, I quite enjoyed the flight seeing as how it was quite light and I got to see the clouds and the ground/sea, which was a first for me.

I think the only other really notable thing to talk about is the Jason Byrne and Ed Byrne gig that I went to. It was a very peculiar experience for me seeing as we were on the second balcony of the theatre and I’m so used to sitting in the stalls. I thought it was going to be a chance to work out for myself which Byrne was better but I feel that it wasn’t totally fair. Karl Spain was the compere and he was quite enjoyable, though I’m not entirely sure I’d go see a full show. First he introduced Jason, who I so dearly love, and quite rightly to as he was fantastic and full of energy and in the second half he introduced Ed who wasn’t terribly flash and it was clearly - as was agreed by Alick’s friends - not the best performance I’ve seen him do and I felt kind of disappointed by it seeing as I’d paid nearly £20. I think I put it this way, Ed made me chuckle (don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t awful) but Jason made me howl.

I can’t say I’ve done much else. I went to a barbeque but it wasn’t too interesting. I’ve just essentially sat around Alick’s home for most of the time doing nothing, the way a holiday should be if you ask me. Still, this has been fun enough for me.

Did I mention that they have a lamb? He’s called Shaun and not only is he adorable but he loves me. He follows me around and I’ve been feeding him his milk (that reminds me, he’s got a feeding later on at 3pm) and learning how to remove him from the house when he’s cheeky enough to come inside. I really want to keep him, and yes, I’m fully aware that he’ll grow into a sheep which won’t be too bad - it means he’ll keep me in wool for eight to twelve years. He’s also absolutely hilarious. He’s been headbutting everything in sight, consequently learning how to play football of sorts and recently he’s been getting a bit frisky and trying to mount Alick’s two dogs, a cross-breed sheepdog (Sasha) and a nearly-as-tall-as-a-donkey St Bernard (Shea). Suffice to say that the dogs weren’t too impressed by his antics but surprisingly he hasn’t learnt his lessons having had both of them snap at him for doing it.

I think that’s about it for now. Don’t expect much in the second instalment apart from photos as I have no plans to do anything for the foreseeable future. Apologies in advance.
