So it’s been a bit of a Tim-filled day today. Technically it started last night when I had tickets all sorted for 15 shows on his next tour (they’re for Reading, Brighton, Sheffield, Manchester, Wakefield, Derby, Portsmouth, Durham, Darlington, Belfast, Norwich, Coventry, Huddersfield, Leicester and Leeds if you really want to know) so hurray for that. I now get to harass him with a new camera, and possibly the DSLR I’ve been promised for my 21st. Tim, consider yourself warned.

More Tim fun came when I found out for myself that Tim had been on Loose Ends on Radio 4 this past Saturday performing a couple of new songs from his new show - Bears Don’t Dig on Dancing and You Tube. I’d heard Bears before but there’s nothing like hearing a clear recorded version of it to appreciate it fully. Unfortunately this also means that I’ve been going round humming it all day because it’s stupidly catchy.

The other song, You Tube, reminds me very much of Nothing Can Stop Us Now with regards to the placement of the joke, which is, at the end of the song. That’s not to say that’s the only amusing point of the song as there’s a quick gag for the music geeks like me about his irregular timings as well as a bit about that photoshoot he did in the lyrca/tights, which gave me a giggle anyway. Tim told me, after he said he meant to tell me about the show but forgot, that he thinks it’s funny but his missus thinks otherwise so upon learning that I’d heard it he put me on the spot and asked what I thought of it. I think I’ve essentially just written that, though it’s a bit more detailed than what I told him.

Anyway, if you want to have a listen yourself it’s [here] until Saturday evening. Tim’s section starts at about 25:15 if you wanna skip straight to it.

Also, I popped down to Leeds today to have a rummage to see if I could find a few bits and pieces. I found the shoes I couldn’t find a couple of weeks ago and remembered to bring back the t-shirt fabric I have so I can start sewing things. I’ve also brought back the book That Which Is Not Said, which is a book of comedians’ poetry released by Zoo Logic a couple of years ago and is apparently a limited edition. Now I bring this up because I plan on getting it signed by as many of the comedians as possible and so the reason I wanted it sooner rather than later is because I knew that Arthur Smith had written a poem and I’m seeing him this Saturday as part of Live At The Chapel so I thought it’d be an ideal time to get it signed by him. Thing is, Live At The Chapel is also done by Zoo Logic and so they’re obviously gonna have comedians they know doing stuff for them as is the case this Saturday. I looked at the book and saw that not only had Arthur Smith written a poem or two, but so had Tony Law and Simon Day who are both also on the bill. I think I’m gonna have my work cut out for me. (The the tenuous Tim link is that he’s on on Saturday too…)

IPod Touch time now. I’ve been through all my photos of Timmy Tim and got them on there today so now I have more eye candy. Please not, that’s more eye candy - there were already photos of Alick, Chris Cox and Pete Firman on there. It seems I have a thing for “magicians”.

I also managed to find a place to download the Nerf Herder video for Mr Spock in a format suitable for the iPod… sod it, he has a name and I’m gonna use it. Yes, in a format suitable for Manny (my big, slow old mp3 player is now Bernard and my iPod shuffle is now Fran to complete the set - it works for me). I hadn’t seen the video for a while and not only is it rather amusing but it pleases my inner geek; how could something with Tribbles not? Have a look-see:
