Today’s been something of an interesting one due to my boyfriend. I picked him up at 12ish to get to the train station in Darlington so wecould catch our train to Edinburgh. Great, fine, fantastic; everything was peachy between us.
Our train was delayed by a few minutes and so we ended up getting the same one as Sorrel, which saved us hanging round and meeting her at the station. However, as soon as we came to leave the train Alick was in a foul mood with me for no apparent reason at all and at the time of typing this, I still don’t know why.
This really affected me because when I used to go on holidays with my family my Dad would do exactlythe same with my mum and it always really upset me so consequently I decided I wasn’t putting up with his shit and headed to the e-ticket tent with Sorrel to pick up her tickets.
Once she’d got those I phoned up Alick to see where he was and the answer was “Where do you think I fucking am?!” so ignoring him for the above reason I went and waited for Kirsty to arrive. I then proceeded to track him down after another curt phonecall before we all walked to the basement flat that we’re sharing.
Beforehand Kirsty had said that shewanted to go see Sammy J today if there were any tickets left when we got there so we headed to the Underbelly, which is just round the corner to see what was going to happen but it turned out that Sammy J had sold out and instead we booked for Chris Cox: Control Freak as well as buying tickets for Russell Kane and Best of the Fest tomorrow.
We then headed to the Pleasance Courtyard via the Gilded Balloon with the assumption that our Tim tickets would be at the Gilded Balloon but they weren’t and were actually at the Pleasance, where we were headed. I guess we’ll know for next time though. And the time eafter that. And the time after that too.
We got in the queue early to see Chris and ended up sitting on the front row just cos I wanted to cos he wasn’t expecting to see me there until the 19th. I’m pretty sure it’s this that got me hauled to the front for the first trick of the show, which, to be fair, seems to be more of a joke than a trick but still, it was fun and I got one of his 390 lollipops.
The whole show was really rather good and it was nice to see that the DVD worked tonight as I know in the past that it hasn’t. But yeah, highly recommended and just cos I know him cos I woulda done the same last year. Shame about the lack of a big purple cloak; I guess he’ll have to show Tim another day.
Speaking of Tim, we saw him next after meeting up with another few friends. His show is looking a bit more swish with pretty lights and a decent setup and the songs are still roaringly funny but I’m annoyed that one of the best new songs he’s written has been cut from the show. Mind you he also cut another couple of shorter, sillier ones too but they’re nothing compared to the missing ‘Confessions’.
Still, if you didn’t know of it’s disappearance you probably wouldn’t care and really enjoy the show. Hooray.
Afterwards he seemed very reluctant to give us a t-shirt despite having said that we shouldn’t pay for his merch, possibly cos he forget he said that, or possibly cos he doesn’t havea very big mark-up on them which is silly because 8 is nothing for a t-shirt and he could be charging a few quid more and still getting away with it.
